Winter sauna

Few things are more Nordic than this: sit in a wood-fired sauna until you are properly warm, then climb down the ladder into a hole in the ice. When Lake Drevviken freezes over, you walk out across the ice to your own private sauna raft, already hot and glowing with lights when you arrive. Go back and forth between the heat and quick dips in the ice hole, then sit on the deck and watch the steam rise into the cold air. Before the ice is thick enough to walk on, you row out as in summer — and the cold autumn and early-winter dips give the same rush. The whole raft is yours, about 20 minutes from central Stockholm, with hosts who are happy to help in English. Never tried it? We'll tell you how to do it safely.
3,800 SEK for 3 hours, then 500 SEK/hour. Swish, card or invoice. Full refund if you cancel up to 48 hours before.

Before that, you row out as in summer. We check the ice ourselves, and if it is too thin to be safe we let you know: you then get a full refund or can book a new time.
Under the ice the lake is close to freezing, around 0–4 °C. That is what gives the rush — a few seconds is plenty. Get in slowly using the ladder, keep the dips short and warm up again in the sauna in between.
Yes, if you take it easy. Never swim alone, especially after alcohol, and keep an eye on each other. There is a lifebuoy and a swim ladder on the raft, and life jackets on request. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, ask a doctor before trying sauna and ice swimming.Read the guide: Winter swimming for beginners →
Swimwear, towels and warm clothes for the walk out — a hat and gloves are nice between dips. Bathing shoes or slippers help on the cold deck and the ice. Bring your own food and drinks if you like; a thermos of something warm goes down well.

The raft is moored about 100 metres out on Lake Drevviken, and a row-boat is included. Most groups row themselves out — it's a short, easy trip. If you'd like a hand, we're happy to row you out. The boat takes one rower plus four to five passengers, so groups larger than five go out in turns. Each trip out or back takes a few minutes. In winter, when the ice is safe, you walk out to the raft instead.
The sauna can be booked 9am–10pm, every day, year-round.
Full refunds are offered up to 48 hours before your booked time — cancel via the link in your booking or payment confirmation, and the refund is processed automatically.
